African swine fever found in wild boar in Moldova

Moldova has reported ASF in two wild boars killed on Oct 2 in a road accident in Tahnauti, Rezina. This is the latest incident following the first outbreak reported in late August.

Tests confirmed that the wild boars were infected with ASF.

In late August and September, owners of backyard farms from the village of Crocmaz and Olanesti, Moldova reported unusual pig deaths. PCR tests confirmed ASF. The dead animals were destroyed and the infected animals were euthanized.
