Japan’s Agriculture Ministry confirmed on Sept 9 an outbreak of swine fever and suspended exports of pork and wild boar meat.

The pathogen is the same as the one that appeared 26 years ago in the same area, but is a different kind than the African swine fever that has flared up in China, said the ministry.
