More than 75 leading nutritionists and breeder farm managers attended the Novus Poultry Master Class and Breeder Forum held recently in Thailand. Held in Asia for the third time, it featured speakers such as Dr Steve Leeson of the University of Guelph, Canada, and Dr Rick Kleyn, a consulting nutritionist with Nutritional Consultancy Spesfeed Pty. The discussions focused on broiler, layer and breeder nutrition, enzymes, gut health, dietary fiber for broiler nutrition, value-added eggs, new ingredients, organic acids, organic minerals, alternatives to AGP’s and more.

During the breeder forum, Dr Xabier Arbe, regional technical manager for Novus, discussed the effect of egg enrichment on chick quality. Dr Steve Leeson spoke about egg and egg shell quality and male management. Javier Ramirez, managing director of Lohmann Tierzucht, gave a presentation on the biological limits of layer genetics, and Ron Eek, regional manager (Asia) explained optimal management for layer-type breeders.
