ASF found in Chinese animal feed

Animal feed producer Tangrenshen Group in China has reported that feed produced by one of its units has been contaminated with African swine fever (ASF).

In a statement to the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, the company said the disease was found in feed samples provided by its subsidiary, Bili Meiyingwei Nutrition Feedstuff.

The discovery occurred during inspections after an outbreak of ASF on a farm in the eastern Chinese province of Anhui.

Tangrenshen, which had 2017 feed sales of 12.6 billion yuan ($1.81 billion), said the origin of the disease remained unclear and the matter was still under investigation.
