ASF boosts Brazil poultry production

Brazil’s poultry exports to China will be strong in 2019 and 2020 due to African swine fever.

Poultry exports will grow 5%, setting a new record. Domestic consumption has grown strongly due to declining unemployment rates, low inflation under 4% and sturdy economic growth where GDP growth is forecast at 2%.

Brazil broiler production in 2020 looks set to grow 2.5% to 13.9 million tonnes. Also, feed cost so far has remained stable. Production cost per kg of live-weight is 2.83 Riel in 2019 vs 2.91 Riel in 2018.
